Activities Planned for Mental Health Month (May)
The following affiliates have activities planned during May – Mental Health Month:
Mental Health America Allegheny County
- May 3: Sixth Annual Walk for a Healthy Community. The walk benefits over 30 Western PA health and human services agencies and is sponsored by Highmark Blue Blue Shield. The walk is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. at Heinz Field and will be a 5K walk. There will also be a 1 mile fun walk for those who do not wish to participate in the 5K.

Mental Health America of Lancaster County
- "Face It" display for the entire month of May at Mulberry Arts Studio, with the opening being first Friday May 2nd. There will be professionally done photographs of each participant, along with the individuals submitting a short paragraph and picture about what Recovery means to them. Twenty eight individuals will participate. "Face It" is a great anti-stigma mental health month project that people in the community can observe all month long.
- Celebration of Recovery Picnic Long's Park, May 9, 10-4. This is a collaborative effort, including the MHA and each year the attendance increases. 450 participants are expected this year. There are lots of food, games, contests, and prizes.

- Informational display at Hempfield United Methodist Church.

Mental Health Association of Northwestern PA
- June 14: Walk for a Health Community is sponsored by Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield and benefits 21 local nonprofit health and human services agencies in Northwestern PA. The walk will be held at Presque Isle State Park.
