The PA Peer Support Coalition is seeking individuals who would be willing to serve on the Steering Committee.
Open Positions
Individuals are needed to serve in these positions beginning in 2010:
Length of Term
All alternate representative positions are three-year terms to begin in January 2010 and end January 2013. The open regular representative position for North Central is for a term that expires in two years (January 2012).
Overview and Qualifications
Regular representatives attend monthly teleconference meetings to help guide the Coalition. Alternate representatives for the Coalition Steering Committee attend Steering Committee meetings when the regular representatives are unable to attend. All positions are on a volunteer basis.
All individuals who serve on the Steering Committee must be openly disclosed persons in recovery from mental illness and must provide mental health peer support to others (paid or volunteer). It is not necessary to be a Certified Peer Specialist to serve on the Committee. Steering Committee members should be active in the mental health community/consumer movement and need regular access to email and a telephone.
How to Submit Your Name for Consideration
There are variances in each region as to how to submit your name for candidacy. However, each region does require that interested individuals submit a short biography of your qualifications via email to Nicole Darr, Coalition Coordinator, by 8:00 a.m. January 7, 2010. Some regions may require more information in addition to the biography.
If you are interested in serving on the Steering Committee, please see the flyer specific to your region for more information on the process.
