Certified Peer Specialist
Description
Certified Peer Specialist (full-time or part-time possible) with Adams-Hanover Counseling Services, Inc. Certified Peer Specialist (CPS) provides support and encouragement for consumers in directing their recovery process. A CPS is knowledgeable of mental health services as well as social, educational and recreational services and activities available in the community. The CPS will role model competency in recovery and ongoing coping skills and draw from their own experience of recovery in their work with the consumers.
Location: Primarily Hanover, with some travel to York.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma
- Must have maintained within the last three years at least 12 months of successful full- or part-time paid or voluntary work experience
- Commitment to consumer choice and empowerment
- Good interpersonal skills so as to effectively relate to peers and supervisors
- Current or former Mental Health consumer
- Must have working knowledge of mental health and drug and alcohol systems
- Must have, or obtain, certification from the County CPS program within six months of hire
- Demonstrated proficiency in reading and writing
