Summary
The normal work week for this position is 20 hours each week. The schedule may be adjusted to meet the needs of the service.

This position provides services to consumers participating in the decision support center (DSC) within the outpatient medication clinic. This innovation in the field of psychiatry provides peer support to people before medical appointments. This position reports to the coordinator of the decision support center. This new initiative is designed to provide a recovery focused, shared decision making process utilizing computer assisted technologies and peer support within the existing medication clinic.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provide orientation to consumers using the DSC Clinic
  • Prepare and offer nutritious snacks for clinic visitors
  • Demonstrated experience in providing Peer-to-Peer support while demonstrating good boundaries
  • Teach and assist consumers in developing "Power Statements", writing personal medicine goals, using decision aid worksheets, completing Common Ground Report
  • Collaborate with other mental health centers staff to facilitate consumers goal attainment
  • Utilize specific interventions designed to assist consumers in meeting his or her goals
  • Facilitate peer to peer common ground workshops
  • Honors all agency policies and procedures with an emphasis on HIPPA Compliance
  • Provides technical assistance to consumers and staff regarding the use of Decision Support Software, Decision Aids, and other DSC Services.
  • Demonstrates flexibility and ability to work collaboratively with agency staff and other organizations and mental health stakeholders;
  • Works very closely with the medical and case management staff.
  • Demonstrates excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrates a duty to act and communicate in a professional manner, in accordance with the Agency's Mission, Vision and Values.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with staff, community agencies and clients. Ability to recognize and be sensitive to cultural and at the differences must be able to safely perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodations
  • Must have Act 33/34 clearances
  • Completes other duties as assigned.

Required Minimum Training
Position requires a minimum 1 year of consistent work experience. High School Diploma, GED required, prefer minimum of Associates Degree. Certification in a Best Practice such as RoadMAP and WRAP is highly desirable. Demonstrates competency as a computer end-user of assorted internet and email browsers, and possess intermediate skills in MS Word. Knowledge of recovery and wellness philosophy and practices is a plus. Must have working knowledge of issues faced by consumers who experience serious mental illness.
