Certified Peer Specialist

Requirements
High School diploma or GED. Must have a valid Pennsylvania Drivers License. Must have a minimum of 12 months paid or volunteer experience within a 3 year period. Must complete the Certified Peer Specialist Training.
Responsibilities
- Knowledge of mental health services and accessibility requirements.
- Serve as a role model for individuals receiving Mental Health services.
- Form relationships with consumers in order to better understand and communicate needs pertaining to recovery goals and developing community supports.
- Partner in Recovery oriented service planning and completion of specified objectives with STAR consumers.
- Assist in transporting consumers.
- Lead group discussions at residential programs.
- Attend and participate in staff meetings, supervision meetings and goal planning/review sessions as needed.
- Complete progress documentation on service planning and objectives.
- Represent Peer Specialist Unit as a member of NHS/The Stevens Center Continuous Quality Improvement Committee.
- Adheres to NHS/The Stevens Center Code of Conduct and The Ethics and Conduct of Peer Specialist’s Discipline in all contact with The Stevens Center consumers, co-workers, allied agencies and community in general.
- Participates in continuing education activities to enhance skills relevant to the job and to maintain certification.
- Maintains consumer confidentiality in accordance with NHS/The Stevens Center policies
- Other duties as assigned.
